Business Website Design 101: How to Reel in Consumers with Your Homepage

In most cases, your business website is the first thing a consumer will engage with that features your brand.

Finding ways to appeal to modern consumers is something most business owners are passionate about. In most cases, your business website is the first thing a consumer will engage with that features your brand. This is why you have to make sure your website is designed and optimized for success. A recent study found that over 38% of consumers will immediately stop engaging with a website if it is unappealing or features a confusing layout.

Rather than running consumers off, you need to find ways to make your website more informative and user-friendly. When auditing your website, the first place you need to go is to your homepage. Here are some things you can do to reel in consumers with your homepage.

Align Homepage Content with User Intent

When people visit your homepage, you want to make sure they receive important information about your company. This is why making immediately clear what your business does on your homepage is so important. If a person is on your website, chances are they have used search terms related to your business. Making sure that the content on your homepage aligns with what a consumer is looking for is known as aligning your content with user intent

Some business owners make the mistake of putting content on their homepage that is loosely related to what they offer. In most cases, this mistake will confuse consumers. If a website visitor is confused by this content, they are more likely to leave and seek out the services/products of a competitor.

Showcase Blog Highlights

Driving organic traffic to a business website generally requires the use of blogging and relevant keywords. Providing consumers with useful information about your industry and the products/services you offer is a great way to reel them in. Having a section on your website that features a carousel of your current blogs is a wise move.

With this carousel of blogs, you can encourage users to stay longer on your website and review the content you have to offer. You also need to add easy to find social share buttons on your blog content. With these buttons, you make it easy for visitors to share your content on their social media accounts.

Provide Website Visitors with a Value Proposition

If you want to convert website visitors into actual customers, you have to convey the value your products/services will offer. Rather than listing the features your products/services have, you need to relay how they will benefit the end-user. Doing this can help you create an emotional connection with a website visitor.

With this emotional connection, you can reel in a consumer and turn them into a paying customer. Without a clearly defined value proposition on your homepage, improving your conversion rates will be nearly impossible.
