Important Rules To Follow When Using Website Pop-Up Advertising

Converting website visitors into actual customers is a numbers game. The more people you can drive to your website, the higher your conversion rates will inevitably be if you have good content to offer. There are a number of methods you can use to provide consumers with more information about your business and the deals it can offer. For years, successful websites have used pop-up advertising to motivate visitors into making purchases.

Successfully using website pop-up advertising is more challenging than you probably realize. If you want to have success with website pop-ups, you need to follow the rules covered below.

Timing is Everything

Building an online presence is usually one of the main motivations a business owner has when investing in a state-of-the-art website. Getting a good return on your investment in a new website is only achievable if you find effective ways to convert visitors into customers. When utilized properly, website pop-ups can help you improve conversion rates. The main thing you need to focus on when trying to implement website pop-ups into your marketing strategy is choosing the right time to present them to visitors.

The last thing you need to do is put a pop-up on the screen of a person who has just landed on your website. Bring in pop-ups too soon can send a visitor running for the hills. Allowing ample time for a visitor to engage with the content on your website before presenting them with a pop-up is a good idea. By doing this, you can make the message your pop-up provides more meaningful and engaging.

Make the Purpose of the Pop-Up Clear

If you are going through the trouble of creating pop-ups for website visitors, you have to make sure they are relevant. Having the same pop-up for every page of your website can make them appear spammy, which will lessen the impact they have. Ideally, you want to have pop-up messages that correspond with the content on the page in question.

You also need to create a simple but effective call-to-action in these pop-ups. A well-written call-to-action will remove any doubt from a website visitor’s mind regarding what you want them to do. If the goal of your pop-up is to get a website visitor to take advantage of a discount on your products/services, then the call-to-action needs to explain this in detail.

Don’t Make Closing the Pop-Up Difficult

Not every visitor that lands on your website will be receptive to your pop-up advertisements. You run the risk of frustrating these individuals if your pop-up ad is difficult to close. Instead of alienating a portion of your audience with a bad pop-up design, you need to simplify the process of closing this message. If a person has to hunt for the mechanism needed to close this ad, they will probably get frustrated and leave your website altogether.

Optimizing your website for success is easy with great content. At Small Business SEO, we take great pride in creating relevant and engaging content for our client’s websites.
