There are many places for SEO marketers to get data from their website, and sometimes, the answer isn’t Google. Currently, in beta, Pinterest Trends provides an overview of the most popular search terms from the past 12 months. SEO marketers can use this information from Pinterest Trends to provide them with insights into what people want to look for in websites.

According to Pinterest Trends, “Pinterest Trends will help brands get deeper insights into planning behaviors on the platform and allow them to allocate budgets to campaigns during various planning stages. It will also validate assumptions about emerging trends, refine search queries with the aid of auto-complete suggestions, and help advertisers find a list of keywords to include or avoid while planning media campaigns.”

Pinterest has access to millions of consumer records that can be used to create better marketing campaigns. Pinterest says that over 320 million people around the world use Pinterest to get inspired. It’s a huge dataset that focuses on trends that aren’t immediately evident from other SEO data.

Another example can be seen by the “more than 200 billion ideas that have been saved to over 4 billion boards to-date on the platform, providing insights into emerging trends and early signals into consumer behavior and evolving tastes.”

During the holidays of 2019, Pinterest highlighted some of the brands that can benefit from the new options. According to Pinterest Trends, “Brands like Albertsons… developed a campaign aimed at driving in-store sales for their private label brands including pumpkin alcohol drinks (+154%), Friendsgiving party ideas (+475%), holiday grazing tables (+500%) and Christmas desserts (+229%).”

What makes Pinterest Trends so useful is the unique way that people use Pinterest to save ideas. As Pinterest explains, “Because people come to Pinterest to save ideas and plan for the future, we can understand unique and emerging tastes, preferences and interests that have powered our algorithm over the years, and are now available for brands to learn more from.”

Pinterest Trends isn’t the only way that social media platform is expanding it’s SEO capabilities. Pinterest also announced Pinterest 100, an annual report that reveals the top emerging trends to try in the year ahead. This extensive report also offers businesses a sneak peek at what research shows people around the world will want in the coming year.

With so many tools available to SEO marketers, it’s important to keep up with all of the advantages offered by social media platforms and other sources. Users will be able to test Pinterest Trends on their own in the near future. Pinterest Trends will be available over the coming weeks on desktop in the US.
